My Very First Contact with Linux

I first discovered Linux at university during the Operating Systems course.
There, I saw it running on the lab computers, but it was mostly theory and a few basic commands.

The real turning point came later, thanks to a close friend of mine who used Linux every day as his main operating system.

Watching him work on his laptop — with that blazing-fast terminal, insane keyboard shortcuts, and a desktop that looked straight out of a sci-fi movie — immediately made me realize that Linux was not just “academic nerd stuff,” but something genuinely powerful and incredibly cool to use.

From that moment on, I decided I wanted to try it myself.
And I never went back.

The Practical Reason That Made Me Stay

My habit of tinkering with everything, combined with the desire to have something highly customizable and visually satisfying, convinced me to use this operating system daily — or at least most of the time.

Another huge advantage is the ability to automate system behavior itself by creating simple scripts with dedicated tools, allowing incredibly powerful and flexible workflows.

Which Distro I Use, and the Best One to Start With

At first, I started with Kubuntu, where I slowly became familiar with the environment and everything it had to offer.

Later, I officially switched to Arch Linux, following the advice of a friend who is very passionate about the topic.

There are countless distros available for this operating system, and choosing one can honestly be very difficult.

However, one thing that can really help in moments of uncertainty is the quality of the official documentation. Currently, Arch is the distro with the most extensive official guides, which I personally find extremely well-written and particularly useful when troubleshooting the most common issues users encounter.
